My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Athena! Named after the Greek goddess of wisdom and war, our Athena channels her namesake’s bold spirit—not in battle, but in epic mop duels and daring toy chases.

Despite being FeLV positive, Athena doesn’t let anything slow her down. She’s healthy, vibrant, and ready to live her best life in a loving, low-stress indoor home—ideally as a solo cat or with other FeLV+ companions. Her condition just means she’ll need regular vet checkups and a little extra TLC, but in return, she’ll give you a lifetime of affection, entertainment, and mop-side companionship.

Athena is more than a cat—she’s a muse, a helper, and a tiny goddess who’s waiting to bless your home with her playful presence. Come meet her and see why we’re all a little obsessed.

More about this rescue

Established in 1982, We Care Animal Rescue is a no-kill sanctuary and shelter for homeless animals in the heart of Napa Valley. Our residents live and roam freely in communal spaces with safe access to the outdoors.

Our staff ensures animals receive daily socialization, enrichment activities, and veterinary care — particularly the elderly and those with special needs. We provide a forever home for all our animals, either through adoption to the public or with us in our sanctuary.
