My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sunflower is a cute 4-month old female Terrier mix puppy who was brought to the HSOV on November 2, 2024 by a Good Samaritan who found her on Glendale Road ("near the Stanleyville split") in the Marietta Ohio area. Sunflower was not wearing a collar, and she was not microchipped.

Sunflower has a black-and-white short smooth coat, a long tail, and a beautiful symmetrically-marked black/white face with soft brown eyes, a charcoal/black button nose, and short floppy ears.

This little sweetheart has a friendly disposition but is so very frightened .. Sunflower was visibly trembling as she snuggled into the arms of HSOV Kennel Tech Lauryn Hamilton who carried her outdoors for her photo session. She seemed to instinctively know that she was safe with Lauryn and responded to her gentle touch and soft soothing voice.

Sunflower is a petite young lady who weighs 30 lbs.

In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Sunflower will be held for three days so that her family will have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership.

Since Sunflower was not reclaimed, she went home with a foster family on November 8, 2024 who plans to adopt her after she is spayed.

Sunflower's foster family provided this update about her .. Sunflower loves the cats in their home as well as children of all ages. Sunflower also loves the family's two big dogs. She is crate-trained (covered) and half-way 'potty trained'. Sunflower jumps/shake a lot and 'dribbles' when she gets excited.

Unfortunately Sunflower was returned to our shelter on July 7, 2025 because her foster family decided not to adopt her after all. So Sunflower is looking for a fabulous home (and some updated photos since she is naturally a larger girl after growing up in her foster home). Sunflower is now a beautiful one-year old young lady and no longer a cute 4-month old puppy.

Update: Sunflower went home with a foster family on July 16, 2025 who plans to adopt her after she is spayed.

Sunflower was spayed on September 3, 2025.

Sunflower was officially adopted by her foster family on September 4, 2025.
