at 45 pounds, she's a beautiful brown and gold with white bundle of joy.
Maya's journey hasn't been an easy one; she was found by a good Samaritan
near their country home not once, but twice! Unfortunately, when returned to
her owner, he decided he did not want her back. But Maya's luck took a turn
for the better, as the kind family who discovered her chose to foster her.
Fostering truly saves lives! Maya has a dazzling smile that lights up the
room, and she loves to showcase her pearly whites! She's affectionate,
sweet, and bursting with energy. To keep her happy and healthy, she needs
daily exercise and walks, so an active home is ideal. Maya enjoys spending
quality time with her humans, making her a perfect match for someone who
works from home. While Maya plays well with other dogs, she does have a
strong prey drive, so it's best to keep her away from cats and farm animals.
She's in the process of house training, and while she can go out the door
during the day, she currently sleeps outside at night. With some patience
and guidance, she's sure to become a wonderful indoor companion. Maya walks
well on a leash and is a great car ride buddy. She's already microchipped,
scheduled to be spayed, and up to date on her vaccinations, so she's ready

AFCHS is a nonprofit 501(c) (3) charitable organization serving San Joaquin County & the surrounding areas of the greater San Joaquin.
Our mission is to promote the human-animal bond and the humane treatment of animals through public education and pet adoptions.
"Not Just an Adoption - a Perfect Match"
Animal Friends Connection began in 1990 as an educational, rescue and adoption agency. In January 2000 we opened a Cat Shelter/Sanctuary and in 2004 started Sheltering dogs too. Since that time we have added dogs kennels and a nice exercise yard. Our Shelter currently houses up to 40 cats and 35 dogs at any given time. While we are primarily a volunteer organization, our Shelter would not be able to function without staff. The animals need to count on being fed twice daily and receive medical care. The public needs to be able to count on us to show them dogs or cats needing to be adopted. We are also there for those that need to re-home their pets or that find animals that need help. Many of our animals are in foster care or rescue homes. We are dedicated to providing shelter, promoting spaying and neutering to the public as well as spaying and neutering our own animals and providing medical care to those in need.
