My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Miracle is a sweet, roly-poly cat with a big personality. She loves to greet her people with dramatic flops and happy belly displays—though belly rubs are not part of the deal. She’s an excellent companion for anyone who appreciates a cat who is independent but still enjoys being pet and spending time nearby.

Miracle is naturally curious and enjoys exploring her home, chittering at birds and squirrels, and bunny-kicking her catnip toys. She also loves chasing hair ties and turning them into zoomie-filled games. Her favorite scratching options include cardboard, rope, and carpet scratchers, and she is very well litter-box trained. She’s treat-motivated, enjoys drinking from a fountain, and tolerates nail trims when swaddled in a towel.

What to Know:

Prefers not to be held and is not a lap cat

May give gentle, stiff “love bites” when excited

Scratches carpet occasionally—redirects well to approved scratchers

Likes to chew on plants, so pet-safe or plant-free homes are ideal

Not a fan of brushing (yet)

Ideal Home:
Miracle will thrive in a home that appreciates a playful, quirky, and independent cat. She’s affectionate in her own ways and makes a wonderful companion for someone who loves a cat with character and charm.

More about this rescue

The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina's mission is to serve as a safe haven for homeless and neglected pets and act as a resource to the community. By educating the public about issues pertaining to animals, we feel that we can work towards the elimination of over breeding of dogs and cats and teach owners to be responsible pet owners. At the same time, we hope to facilitate adoption of pets to good homes so that we can allow more unwanted animals to find a temporary home with us.
