My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kolbe may be small in size, but he’s big on personality! This spirited little guy was surrendered to us when his previous family struggled to meet his exercise, mouthing, and training needs. Now, Kolbe is searching for an experienced, adult-only home that can provide him with the structure and routine he craves.

Kolbe is incredibly friendly and his tail is always wagging! His excitement is contagious, and he has the most adorable smile when he's happy. However, when Kolbe gets anxious or playful, he can sometimes grab random objects or people's clothing. He’ll need a family that is dedicated to helping him navigate these behaviors and avoid situations that could overstimulate him. For this reason, Kolbe would do best in a home without children, small dogs, or cats. We are currently assessing how he interacts with large dogs, so we'll provide updates as we learn more.

Kolbe loves working for treats, receiving butt scratches, and playing structured games of fetch and tug. He will require a few visits and training sessions at Dog Tales to ensure a smooth and successful transition to his forever home.

Upon arrival, Kolbe was diagnosed with Leptospirosis. After undergoing intensive treatment, Kolbe has made a full recovery from the infection, but his kidneys were damaged. He has been diagnosed with early-stage chronic kidney disease (Stage 3). At this time, he is stable, with no symptoms aside from needing to urinate a bit more frequently than usual. His condition is being closely monitored, and he does not require any medications at this stage. However, Kolbe should be fed a prescription kidney diet to help slow the progression of his condition.

Kolbe is a sweet, loving boy who just needs the right family to help him continue to thrive. Could that be you?

Additional adoption info

Due to the high volume of applicants, we are only able to move forward with families that are ready to adopt now. If you aren’t ready to adopt now, please apply when you are ready to welcome a dog into your home. After your initial appointment, once the adoption has been approved, we will require the dog to be picked up within one week unless we determine otherwise.

Our hope is that all homes are a forever home, however we understand that circumstances can change, and that sometimes it just isn't the right fit. Whether you discover this three days after the adoption, or three years after the adoption, we will always welcome our dogs back with open arms. Their well-being is our top concern.

All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, examined by a vet, dewormed, given flea and tick prevention, groomed

Our adoption fees:

Under 1 year old (11 months or less) - $950
1-7 years old - $800
8+ years old - $500
Sanctuary - $50
Palliative* - $50
Special Needs* - $50
Bonded pairs - 30% off the total price

*For Palliative and Special Needs dogs we will discuss on a case by case basis what Dog Tales will cover financially, if applicable
