Babs has been with us since she was a puppy and is now about six years old. She is a very special dog who will only be placed with an experienced owner who understands fear based aggression and is committed to going slow and building trust.
Babs has never bitten a human, and once she trusts you she is incredibly loving, silly, and loyal. She does well with male dogs she already knows and enjoys playing with them, but she has had scuffles with other female dogs. Because of this, we will only place her in a home with no other dogs.
She is:
•Very food motivated and has solid basic obedience
•A sensitive dog who needs calm handling and clear boundaries
•Good with cats and has always lived with one
•Great around ducks, chickens, and turkeys
•Spayed and up to date on all of her vaccinations
Her ideal home
Something Babs would love most is a ranch style home or rural property where she can roam, sniff, and settle into a predictable routine. She will absolutely alert you to predators and unknown people on the other side of a fence and takes that job seriously.
Babs will not thrive in a busy city environment or confined to a small yard. She needs space, structure, and a quiet home that understands who she is.
Babs is exceptionally wary of new people. She is not a dog you walk up to and pet. She needs time, space, and patient people who will let her approach on her own terms and learn that she is safe.
Adoption requirements for Babs:
•Experienced dog owner only, comfortable with fear based behaviors
•No other dogs in the home
•No children in the home
•Rural or ranch style setting strongly preferred
•Willing to make multiple visits to Camp Barry so Babs can slowly get to know you and build a relationship
•Understands that management and continued training will be part of her life
Her adoption will include a mandatory contingency that if at any point things are not working out, Babs must be returned to Camp Barry. She will always have a safe place with us.

More about this rescue
Camp Barry is an all volunteer based 501(c)(3) non profit located in Crescent City, California.
We specialize in taking litters of unwanted, neglected and abandoned puppies. We have also pulled older medical dogs and puppies from our local pound, we have provided a safe space for dogs to stay and decompress until they can be transferred to another rescue and if we have space available we do take owner surrenders.
To us it doesn't matter where they come from or how long they will spend with us, all we know is they need and deserve a safe, loving and nurturing environment until they can find a forever home
We work with and begin training with every dog & puppy while at our rescue. This gives them a good start to a new life.
Camp Barry has saved hundreds of dogs and puppies since we began our mission in January 2018!
We work on social skills, positive reinforcement, potty training and show them what it is like to live in a home with a family. We try to set each pup up for success and teach them skills that they can take with them when they are adopted into their forever families.
