Lux Take a good look at my pictures. Do you notice something remarkable? I have nearly perfectly symmetrical markings on my face and body. I am proud to have such an orderly arrangement of white and grey fur. I like things to be even, predictable, never-changing, and quietly the same. I was adopted as a kitten from an animal shelter in Michigan. Now, at 6-years, 9-months old, I find myself at the HSHS animal shelter. Over the last five years, I have had periods of stress and anxiety. Going to the Veterinarian sent me into panic mode. Significant changes in the house, like a bathroom remodel, threw me for a loop. Being around young children gave me the willies. You can tell me it`s silly to be anxious, but worrying is one of my hobbies. In my latest home, I was rejected by the existing animals. So you can imagine what that circumstance did to my confidence. On July 27, I moved into a foster home to give me a break from shelter life. My foster mom (FM) reported to the interviewer lady (IL) that I have been doing great so far! I am a curious and sweet-natured girl. I have been doing well with meeting new people, although I haven`t had the opportunity to interact with other pets or kids while living here. To be frank, it`s been a joy not to worry about how other animals are taking me. I love being near my FM and will follow her from room to room. When things become overwhelming, such as loud noises or excessive movement, I find that hiding under the bed for a little while is comforting. I am not one of those cats who are always asking to eat, but when I`m hungry, my favorite food is wet cat food. As for my litter box habits, I have had no accidents. Since arriving, I have used the box without fail. My FM has noticed that when I`m covering things with the litter, I sometimes kick it out of the box. I think I need a bigger box! I love being petted, and I will give FM head butts to gain her attention. She thinks I am a sweetheart! The HSHC staff has many suggestions for my new family on how to make me feel safe, secure, and confident. With a regular and predictable routine, I make a very lovable companion. If you`re ready to commit, I`m ready to be a part of your family. 8-6-25

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
