Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi there, my name is Champ! I'm a handsome, big-hearted Foxhound looking for my forever home. At 76 pounds, I could use a little help slimming down, so I’m looking for a family who can support me on my weight-loss journey with some gentle exercise and a healthy diet. I’m almost 6 years old, and while I still enjoy a good stroll, I’m mostly looking for a comfy couch to lounge on and a loving human to keep me company.
Like any true hound, I’ve got a voice and I’m not afraid to use it! I love to “talk” and will happily tell you all about my day while we relax together. I can also be a bit prey-driven, so a home without cats would be best for me.
If you’re looking for a laid-back, chatty, and lovable companion who enjoys the simple things in life—a cozy nap, a slow walk, and some good company—I just might be your perfect match. Come visit me at GCHS and let’s get to know each other!

More about this shelter
The Gulf Coast Humane Society is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization dedicated to serving the animals and community of Southwest Florida. We receive no federal, state, or county funding, nor do we receive financial support from the Humane Society of the United States. Instead, our lifesaving work is made possible through the generosity of individual donations, grants, bequests, and community fundraising efforts.
As a no kill shelter, Gulf Coast Humane Society is committed to providing compassionate care for unwanted, neglected, and abandoned animals. We never euthanize due to space constraints or the length of time an animal has been in our care. Our mission is to give every animal the second chance they deserve in a safe and loving environment.
