Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Champ! 🐾💙
Champ is a handsome, big-hearted Foxhound who is now 7 years old and proudly qualifies for our Silver Paws VIP program. Weighing about 76 lbs, this lovable guy could benefit from a little slimming down and is looking for a family who can support him on his weight-loss journey with gentle exercise and a healthy routine. While he still enjoys a nice stroll, Champ truly loves the simple things—lounging on a comfy couch and spending quality time with his favorite human.
True to his hound roots, Champ has plenty to say and isn’t shy about sharing it. He loves to “talk” and will happily tell you all about his day while you relax together. Champ does have a prey drive, so he’s looking for a home with no other animals, and he’s also best suited for a kid-free home where life is calm and predictable.
Champ would be a wonderful match for someone seeking a laid-back, chatty, and affectionate companion who enjoys slow walks, cozy naps, and good company. He’s ready to enjoy his golden years feeling safe, loved, and right at home. 🐾

More about this shelter
The Gulf Coast Humane Society is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization dedicated to serving the animals and community of Southwest Florida. We receive no federal, state, or county funding, nor do we receive financial support from the Humane Society of the United States. Instead, our lifesaving work is made possible through the generosity of individual donations, grants, bequests, and community fundraising efforts.
As a no kill shelter, Gulf Coast Humane Society is committed to providing compassionate care for unwanted, neglected, and abandoned animals. We never euthanize due to space constraints or the length of time an animal has been in our care. Our mission is to give every animal the second chance they deserve in a safe and loving environment.
