Buffalo has come a long way or the past year. I can`t even imagine what his life was like before he was rescued. He was found tied up outside not being fed. His first few days at UPAWS his bowel movements were sand. He has put on about 30lbs. He lived with two dogs while with me. They have passed. We have been together 1 year. He is food driven , but not food aggressive. I use treats as a training tool meeting dogs. He has been perfect in the house. Buffalo is a INDOOR dog. He does not counter surf or dig in the trash or yard.. He does not get on the furniture or beds. He knows sit and lie down. He has free roam of house. I have never had to try a kennel. He is extremely affectionate towards people and seeks affection. He walks well on a leash. He is reactive to some dogs when meeting. He does eventually warm up to some. Its something we are working on. Buffalo has a good recall off lead. Needs to be on lead when other dogs are around. Once he knows a dog he does well. This is a difficult decision. I love Buffalo, he is my best friend. I have serious health issues and need to find him a loving home that will spoil him and give him a loving home he so much deserves ? Buffalo has a vet appointment on 12/29/25 for his yearly check up/vacancies.

We are a local non-profit organization run and staffed by your neighbors. We make decisions on caring for homeless, unwanted, abandoned and abused domestic animals based on what we believe is best for them. We have no affiliation with any larger group and we receive no funding from any larger group that might influence our decisions or actions.
We advocate only for the animals in our care to help them find their forever home with you.
UPAWS does not receive operating funds from any governmental agency. We rely on donations from our neighbors and friends to make our efforts possible. We save consistently 98% of the animals who come to us – which is an award-winning success story. We want to educate everyone on proper animal care so there soon won’t be the three percent who come to us too sick or wounded to be saved. It’s your support that makes this dream possible.
