My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shadow - 2000224008

Shadow has been waiting at the shelter for a long time! We`ll cover the adoption fees for him, and an expert will offer you 3 private consultations following his adoption to help you!

Shadow is a dynamic and energetic dog, ideal for an active family ready to provide regular training. He can live with other dogs, but careful management is necessary, and working with a dog professional is recommended. His prey drive makes him incompatible with cats.

He requires at least two hours of physical and mental exercise daily, as well as interactive play to keep him stimulated. Shadow is very vocal, especially when excited or reactive to stimuli. Working with a dog trainer will be essential to manage his vocalizations and reactivity, particularly towards strangers.

This dog is sensitive to invasive handling and will prefer gentle interactions, accompanied by consent testing. He needs an experienced adopter who can manage his energy and behaviors. With the right guidance, Shadow will become a loyal and fulfilled companion.

More about this shelter

Founded in Montreal in 1869, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (now known simply as the Montreal SPCA) was the first animal-welfare organization in Canada. It is not known under whose influence the society was formed, but its history acknowledges assistance from animal-welfare societies in France, England and the United States. In its early years, the SPCA concentrated primarily on improving the treatment of work horses, which were used all across the island of Montreal. The SPCA later began working on additional issues, such as humane dog control, cock-fighting and the killing of wild birds. The SPCA has come a long way since its beginnings: today, it is the largest animal-protection organization in Quebec, speaking on behalf of animals wherever there is ignorance, cruelty, exploitation or neglect.
