👑 All Hail King Kane 👑 “You may address me as Your Majesty… or just Kane. That works too.”
After five long years of being in and out of the shelter royal palace, Kane is finally ready to reclaim his throne—this time, in a forever kingdom of his very own.
Big? Yes. Beefy? Absolutely. Mouthy? Only when his royal opinions are ignored. Kane isn’t your average dog. He’s a one-dog monarchy. A majestic land hippo with a bark that echoes through the halls and a presence that demands respect, snacks, and zero sweatshirts. (Seriously. Do not clothe the king.)
This monarch has a very specific list of royal preferences: 👑 No children in the kingdom—small humans don’t understand protocol. 👑 No other animals—His Majesty does not share the throne. 👑 Bring offerings of enormous blankets for royal lounging. Bonus points if they’re fluffy. 👑 Be okay with Kane occasionally mouthing your arm like a medieval turkey leg. It’s how he shows affection… probably.
Kane has had a rough reign—years of bouncing between castles (shelters), waiting for someone who gets him. He’s not here to be the village jester. He’s not a knight in shining armor. He’s a king—equal parts muscle, loyalty, and glorious attitude.
But for the right subject? He’ll be your fiercely devoted ruler of the living room. Your silent protector. Your blanket-loving, sweatshirt-hating best friend.
Long live Kane. Give him a chance to rule your heart—and your couch. 🐾🛋️💂♂️More information? Call Marion Area Humane Society at 740-389-6548 or email at manager@mahspets.org

More about this shelter
Marion Area Humane Society is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization incorporated in 1967 under ORC 1717. We strive to educate, assist and protect the animals of the Marion area. Since 1986 have operated a shelter to provide a humane environment for homeless animals. In 2011 several generous donors and grants made it possible for a shelter renovation and addition of a separate intake section. MAHS operates a open-admissions shelter with a guilt and fee free surrender policy, to encourage owners who can not properly care or maintain proper living conditions for their pets to do the best thing for the pet. MAHS also provides humane investigations and a spay/neuter voucher program for Marion county.
