My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Born Sept 7, 2022 • 44 lbs • Located in the DMV

Looking for a soft-eyed, blockheaded snugglebug with perfect house manners and a heart full of love? You’ve found her.

Mellow is the kind of dog who instantly feels like family. She’s generally calm and always affectionate. With moderate energy, she’s happy to chase a flirt pole or take a jog, but she’s equally content lounging on her electric blanket, snoring softly next to you. She may look like an athlete, but at heart, she’s a potato.

She’s house-trained, crate-trained, and a dream to live with: no chewing (Her foster family trained her out of that phase), almost no barking, and zero chaos—just steady companionship and a love for being pitbull-close. Like… she would prefer to climb under your skin close, please and thank you.

She’s also whip-smart and food-motivated, which makes training a breeze. She already knows several cues and is quick to learn more—especially if snacks are involved.

Clean Bill of Health
If you’ve been following her foster journey online, you know Mellow had some mammary lumps that raised concern. P3 Rescue took proactive, definitive action: They had both mammary chains completely removed. Every biopsy came back benign—one lump was inflammation due to mastitis. The best news? Because all mammary tissue is gone, she’ll never, ever have to worry about mammary masses again. She’s healthy and requires no ongoing medical treatment.

What She Needs
    •    A home without other dogs, at least for now. (She’s reportedly done well with cats.)
    •    Support on walks. Mellow is working through leash reactivity and will thrive with someone who’s patient, consistent, and uses positive reinforcement.
    •    A loving home where she be safe forever.

More about this rescue

P3 is a united rescue effort to both save pitties and support veterans. At P3 we LOVE Pitties & we LOVE & RESPECT our Veterans! 2800 Pitties & Pittie Mixes are euthanized in overcrowded shelters every day, over 1 million every year. 22 Veterans commit suicide every day, over 8,030 per year. At P3 we find these numbers UNACCEPTABLE! P3 was created in March of 2024 with the goal of rescuing Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes from overcrowded shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia and providing the necessary training for them to provide emotional support, nightmare alerts, and pressure therapy during episodes of anxiety and stress so they can be paired with a Veteran struggling with PTSD reducing the risk of Veteran suicide. While we support our Veterans, our rescue is not limited to the placement of service dogs for Veterans only. Our Veterans program is only one aspect of what we do. We want to help EVERY pittie find the perfect furever family!
