Zelda is a sweet, soft shepherd mix with a heart as big as her paws. She might be a little shy when you first meet her, but she warms up quickly. Once she gets to know you, she’ll become your most loyal and snuggly friend.
This smart girl already has great manners: she's housetrained (though every pup needs a little grace adjusting to a new home) and walks politely on leash. She knows when you say "easy" that it's time to slow down. When she's off leash, she waits to hear her favorite phrase - "1-2-3 GO!” - and then she knows it's time for zoomies. Zelda also loves her downtime. She's not destructive when left alone and is always ready for cuddles or a hug when you’re back.
Zelda is a sensitive girl who wants to be your one and only. (Other dogs make her a bit uncomfortable, but she adores humans). She'll thrive in a home where she can be the sole canine queen and soak up all the love and attention she deserves. Come meet her today and see why she's stolen our hearts!

More about this shelter
Founded in 1965, Animal Humane New Mexico is the state’s leading private 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organization serving more than 10,000 homeless and at-risk dogs & cats each year. We never euthanize based on age or length of stay and since 2010, have re-homed 100% of healthy pets in our care. We support every companion animal at Animal Humane with outstanding veterinary, social and emotional care, and love.
As a private nonprofit shelter, we receive no city, state or federal funding; each dollar judiciously spent is earned or raised. We are nationally recognized as a top U.S. charity based on financial accountability, transparency, and administrative-to-program cost ratios. Animal Humane is among only 9 percent of nationwide charities to have received five consecutive annual four-star evaluations, the highest possible, from Charity Navigator, including a top score of 100 for accountability and transparency.
