My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A PLAYFUL & SILLY FRIEND:  Approx. 8 years old / Approx. 49 lbs.

Hi, I’m Bolton!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control.  I don’t remember my past, but it seems clear that I didn’t live an easy life.  Well, the day I was rescued began my second chance and I’m happy about that!  I’m looking for a kind and loving family who’s ready to welcome a loyal and loving companion into their lives.  I spent some time in the prison/foster training program and learned a lot!  I’m currently in a wonderful foster home while I wait for my furever family to find me.

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I recently met dogs at Mostly Mutts and in my temporary foster home and I was friendly with them. I enjoy a game of tag with other dogs, running towards them then away from them hoping they will chase me.  I also get excited to see them on my walks.  If you have a nice doggie at home who loves to play, let’s meet and see if we can be pals.  / No cats in my new home please, as I like to chase them. / I met nice kids around 10 years old at Mostly Mutts and liked them, so kids 10+ in my new home could be a good fit for me.  Let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I'm sweet, gentle, and a little goofy. I love sniffing around — I'm a hound, after all — and I’m always curious and ready to use my nose to explore. I can be playful and silly, but I’m just as happy to chill and relax with you.  I am a happy boy, and my temp. foster described me as a sweet pup who ‘lights up every room I walk into.’ I would love to brighten your day as well!  I’m aware of my size, so I don’t play too roughly or knock anything over while playing.  I couldn’t resist sneaking my front paws onto the counter a few times to sniff what my foster was cooking, but with a firm “leave it,” I quickly hop back down.  I’m a good boy for my baths, so that’s a plus, too!  / Energy level: 6-8.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners using my gentle leader as well as accept nice strangers without jumping.  / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts and in the prison/foster training program.  In my foster home, I don’t really need one – besides I’d prefer to be with you. / I had good potty habits in the prison/foster training program, as well as in my foster home, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home, too!

• LIKES/DISLIKES: I may be 8 years old, but I have a puppy energy at heart!  I love toys and playing (especially outside!), so let’s have some fun play times together.  I also love to go on daytrips, but I have chewed several leashes in half while in the car, so please keep me safe in another way (maybe a chain leash and harness?).  I recently went on a day trip to Home Depot and the MM Market with some nice volunteers, and I enjoyed greeting lots of nice people, kids, and dogs. It’s so fun to go places together!  With my foster, I love going on long walks, even after 30 minutes I’m still willing to keep going!  / I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.

• MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I came in with some thin fur in a few areas. I am done with my medicated baths now and my skin and fur are looking great.  I also came to MM very skinny but have gained weight with proper nutrition.  My tummy has been a bit sensitive, so I’ve started eating a prescription food called Hill’s Science Diet w/d Multi-Benefit to help with that – so just ask about this.  I have mild/moderate tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future.

I’m looking for a great family to show me the love and care I missed out on before being rescued.  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse
