Gotenks’ Rainy Day Field Trip 🐶
Hi friends! Gotenks here (#88162), reporting on my field trip—and let me tell you, it was a very good day to be me.
It was rainy and gloomy outside, but I came into the day with my usual big enthusiasm. When I first got into the car, I was thrilled. I might’ve tried to sit a little too close (laps are the best seat, obviously), but once I was secured and had a moment to settle, I did just fine. I can get in and out all by myself when I’m calm—promise!
Because I’m a strong, heavy, and extremely excited boy, my human thought it would be best to head home first to practice some leash manners. Honestly? Best decision ever. The second I walked into the house, I remembered how much I LOVE living indoors. Warmth. Quiet. Cozy beds. Amazing smells. Treats. Toys. Bones. I felt right at home.
I proudly showed off all my skills—my sit is automatic, I can lay down, spin, weave, and if you say “eh!” I stop immediately. I soaked up belly rubs, explored the backyard in the rain, and then curled up in a dog bed so comfortable that I fell asleep snoring. I even found a food puzzle and solved it very quickly, because I’m a smart boy… and also very food-motivated.
Once the rain slowed down, we went for a long walk. I was energetic at first and got a little tangled, but I remembered my leash manners and did my best. I’m not bothered by cars or bikes, but people? People are AMAZING and very hard to ignore. I check in, I redirect, but sometimes my excitement wins because I love humans so much.
Later, I met a whole group of teenagers, which was fantastic. I don’t really understand the word “stranger”—everyone I meet is immediately family. They even took me to Dairy Queen for a pup cup, which was delicious and definitely one of the highlights of my life so far.
I love kids, I love snuggles, I give enthusiastic kisses, and I would do just about anything for food. I’m silly, happy, bouncy, smart, confident, affectionate, and very social. I’m also still growing into my big body, which means I can be a bit clumsy—I trip, bump into things, get tangled, and flop dramatically. It’s all part of my goofy charm.
I might seem wild at first in a kennel or car, but in a calm home environment I settle quickly. I have excellent house manners, I’m fully potty trained, and if there’s a doggy door, I’ll happily take myself outside. What I miss most is having a home, a soft bed, and people to belong to.
Rainy days are better with laughter—and today had plenty of it.
Final score: 100/10.
Would absolutely go on another field trip. Preferably tomorrow. 🐾💙
