Meet Millie – an incredibly smart and sometimes too clever dog looking for her forever home! This beautiful girl came to us with her litter of puppies, all named after characters from Wicked. Now, with all her puppies finding their forever homes, Millie is eagerly waiting for hers!

Millie is a sweet and affectionate dog, but she’s also full of energy and needs a job to keep her mind and body busy. While we make sure she gets out to Play Group every day, her energy often builds up. When she’s done playing, she’s so clever that she uses the chain-link fence like a ladder to let herself out! Unfortunately, because of this, we can’t leave her unattended in a yard, so she isn’t able to burn off as much energy as she needs.

She does great with other dogs in Play Group, but when walking past other dogs behind fences, she can get frustrated due to the lack of space to exercise. This frustration has led to some barrier reactivity, but she’s calm and happy once she’s in the yard playing freely.
Millie is an incredibly sweet girl who would thrive in a home that can provide her with plenty of exercise, stimulation, and mental challenges. We have also been working with Millie on walking on long lines, keeping her attention on her handler, and using food puzzles to keep her mind working. If you’re looking for a bright and energetic companion, she might just be the perfect fit!

While Millie continues her search for her forever home, we would love to place her in a foster home where she can receive the positive reinforcement training she needs. If you’re interested in fostering, please reach out to us at fostercare@safehavenhumane.com.

Note: We recommend that potential fosters or adopters have experience with Malinois or similar breeds, as Millie’s intelligence and energy are traits typical of this breed.

More about this shelter

For over 40 years, SafeHaven Humane Society has worked to help our communities’ residents be the best humane beings they can be by providing compassionate temporary shelter care; healthy adoptable animals; information, understanding and education; and population control through spay and neuter programs, instead of euthanasia.

Mission
Finding Homes…Opening Hearts….Educating Minds to strengthen and improve the lives of animals and people.

Vision
We envision a community where every adoptable, treatable companion animal has a loving home and where every loving home has the opportunity to care for a companion animal.

Values
We are guided by the belief that no adoptable or treatable companion animal should be unnecessarily euthanized due to space, time, appearance or treatable conditions.

We are committed to:
* Giving a new chance to companion animals who would otherwise be discarded.
* Strengthening the humane animal bond through education.
* Helping people and their companion animals stay together through the support of programs and services.
* Leading responsibly with compassion.
