Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Wilma – the lovable goofball with a heart as big as her blanket collection! 💕
Wilma is the most affectionate, playful girl who’s made incredible progress on her journey. She can be a little sensitive and unsure in new situations, but she’s come so far and just needs someone patient and consistent to help her to continue to shine. Once she warms up, you’ll get nothing but pure, snuggly love — and maybe a face full of kisses!
This girl is peak pitty: she adores blankets, comfy spots, and a good snuggle session. She’s also got a silly, adventurous side — she prances like a deer, zooms like lightning, and loves hikes, long walks, and fetch (even if her catching skills are… a work in progress). Wilma is smart, curious, and loves a challenge with puzzle toys and slow feeders. Ice cubes and frozen treats are her jam — peanut butter, pumpkin, banana… she’s a connoisseur!
Wilma’s working hard on her leash manners and has learned some impressive skills — like “sniff,” “safe,” “free,” and “check in” — to help her focus when things get exciting. She’d love another easy-going doggie friend to run and play with, but she’s just as happy curled up inside with her people.
She’s a chewer - sturdy toys are a must! Baths are tolerated like a pro, as long as rain stays out of the deal — this diva believes water is only for drinking, thank you very much!
Wilma’s loyal, hilarious, and endlessly loving — the kind of dog who’ll brighten every day just by being herself. She even has her own theme song (“Our Little Pitty Willie” to the Brady Bunch tune) and wags along when she hears it.
Whoever adopts Wilma will be one very lucky human — she’s the sweetest mix of silly, snuggly, and strong. She’s come so far already and is ready to keep blooming with a forever family to cheer her on. 🌈🐾
Adopters have 30 days of free access to 1-on-1 text and email support from trainers at Petcademy to help make every pet's transition into their new home as smooth as possible. All dogs available for adoption have been spayed/neutered, microchipped and are current on all vaccinations. Please email dogs@henricohumane.org for more information.

Potential adopters are carefully screened to ensure we find the right forever home for the dogs and cats we rescue. Since animals live in foster homes, we get to know their personality and temperament. The adoption process allows us to learn about you, so that we can help find the perfect match for your home.
ADOPTION PROCESS
After finding a cat or dog that you are interested in, you'll need to complete an adoption application either online (https://henricohumane.org) or at an adoption stand. An adoption coordinator will review your application to ensure your situation matches the needs of the animal you're interested in. If completing an application online, please note, every question must be answered on the application for it to be reviewed by an adoption coordinator. As part of the review process, we'll request references. Because we are an all-volunteer organization, it may take up to 48 hours for an adoption coordinator to contact you.
ADOPTION FEES:
All of our adoption fee amounts can be found here:
https://www.henricohumane.org/adopt
The adoption fee covers the cost of shots, spay/neuter, microchipping and worm/flea treatments.

More about this rescue
Henrico Humane Society is an all-volunteer, foster-based,
non-profit organization that rescues dogs and cats from
across Central Virginia and places them in loving, forever
homes.
HHS has saved hundreds of animals each year since
1991. Many of the dogs and cats we rescue come from
shelters in rural areas where they have fewer adoption
opportunities. The majority of the animals in our care live
with foster parents until they find a permanent home.
We don't have a shelter and most of our animals live in foster homes until they're adopted, which allows us to get to know their personality and temperament. Applicants are carefully screened to ensure we find the right forever home for the dogs and cats we rescue. Our adoption process allows us to learn about potential adopters so we can help find the perfect matcher their home.
