Here's what the humans have to say about me:
I’m Cashmere, and I know I hide…but please don’t mistake that for not wanting love.
I’m young, but I’ve already spent most of my life feeling invisible, first as a stray, and now, shyly tucked away in my room at the shelter. Every day, I curl up in the same little cave, far from the noise and foot traffic, because the world still feels too big, overwhelming, and uncertain to me.
But if you take the time to look for me by kneeling down and peeking inside, you’ll find my bright lime-colored eyes looking back at you. I stay very still at first, but if you offer your hand with kindness, I’ll lean in. I don’t hiss or swat, and though I’m nervous, I’m gentle. And if you speak softly, I’ll listen. I always do.
The truth is that I don’t want to hide forever. I just need someone who will give me the space to come out at my own pace. I dream of a calm home — one with a cozy sunbeam, a quiet corner to call my own, and a human who understands that love doesn’t have to make a grand entrance to be real and lasting.
Could you be the one to stay long enough for me to come out of my timid shell and love you with all my tender heart? Please apply today to give a bashful girl like me the chance I’ve been silently dreaming of.
Cashmere does very well with other cats, but living with a dog would likely be too much for her at the moment. She would thrive in a serene home with adults and older children where she can feel safe and blossom in her own time. If you are interested in inquiring more about Cashmere, please contact the SPCA via email at spcaallegany@gmail.com, call us at (585)593-2200 ext. 2, or stop by to meet her in person! Adoption applications can be found on our website at www.spcaallegany.org.
