A little bit about me…
What’s up everybody?! My friends call me Hyde, but you can call me your new best friend! I’m a rowdy little pup who’s eager to start a new life. I’ve got a lot to learn and was hoping you’d be the one to want to show me! Making dog buddies is easy for me, but I do like to play a little rough and will need some work on toning it down. Keeping me socialized will be ideal and beneficial for the both of us. My manners are worked on daily, but keep in mind I am still in my puppy stage and will need firm training to be taught where to focus and direct my attention. I have a lot of potential and would love to meet you!

The highlights…
-I will need all basic training
-Very sweet
-I can be stubborn
-Tall fence is required! I am an escape artist

My ideal home would include…
-A secure yard: I was recently returned due to my constant escaping. I can climb fences and jump short walls.
-Keeping the enrichment activities very frequent: I need a lot of mental stimulation to keep my developing brain happy and healthy.
-Someone(s) with previous puppy experience who is willing to put in the work that will be needed to help me grow into a well rounded boy.
-Required boundaries to be set right away so that I understand that I do not get to do whatever I want, when I want. With structure and routine, I will be successful in my new life.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Please be advised we only adopt to AZ residents. We make a commitment to all of our animals. So while we appreciate your interest, we ask that you be a local resident to adopt. We do not always know the full background of each animal and sometimes personalities are not fully shown until a few days in the home. If for whatever reason you cannot keep the animal, we appreciate the animal being returned to our facility. It is costly and time consuming to return an animal from out of state. Please check your local animal shelter to find a forever friend near your area.
We do have adoption fees that are reflective to our adoptable cats and dogs. They will slightly vary depending on the cat or dog. However most of the adoptable pets have the same adoptable fee. We ask that any prospective adopter to come to our location and complete an adoption application. This will be reviewed by a qualified adoption counselor who will sit and visit to interview the adopter on what they are looking for to place the adoptable pet in a forever home. Once approved for adoption, there is paperwork to complete and the adoptable cat or dog will be able to go home that day

More about this shelter

Sun Valley Animal Shelter, Inc., is an Arizona nonprofit corporation with 501(c)3 status which operates a No-Kill shelter in Glendale, Arizona, generally serving the western portion of the Phoenix metropolitan area. The organization was founded in 1991 by a group of Sun City area residents as a foster-based program to provide adoption opportunities for homeless and abandoned dogs and cats. The current facility was built in 1995 and can house 100+ dogs and 100+ cats. The organization receives no government funding and is supported by income from our thrift store profits, adoption fees, membership dues, donations and bequests. We recently received a grant to assist in the construction of a new medical/surgical center at the facility.

The animals taken into our care are housed in a clean, secure environment and are spayed/neutered, microchipped, given all necessary shots and a physical exam. Dedicated volunteers are invaluable in assisting with the daily care and nurturing of our dogs and cats prior to finding a loving home. We are proud to note that in the last several years we have increased adoptions from approximately 300 animals per year to over 1000 animals per year.
