My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ladybug was found at a construction site in Fort Lauderdale, along with two adult male rabbits and a number of babies. A month after her rescue, she gave birth to five babies and was a fantastic mamma, keeping all the babies plump despite being very underweight herself from surviving outside. When the babies moved on to their own foster homes, Ladybug was finally able to focus on her self-care and blossom into a lovely and lively young bun! Her coat has grown back plush and white and she is now at a healthy weight. She is a confident and adventurous bunny and greatly enjoys her roaming time, which she celebrates by performing binkies and zoomies. Ladybug is very smart - she figures out every enrichment puzzle in record time and has learned to recognize the sound of the refrigerator door opening, which to her means it is time for her to receive greens. She has even begun clicker training! Ladybug has always been a great hay eater and she has impeccable litter box habits. She enjoys gentle pets and regularly “boops” her foster mom while she is out roaming. You may have spotted her at some ORCA events like Books and Bunnies or Bunny Yoga.

One of the most endearing things about Ladybug is her love of blankets and burrowing in them. She has consistently sought out blankets since arriving at her foster home, and will cover herself completely under a blanket almost every day. Her foster mom often delivers pellets or greens right to her latest blanket igloo, and Ladybug eats them with just her nose sticking out from underneath the blanket. On more than one occasion her foster mom was sure that Ladybug had escaped her pen, only to find her all snuggly and tucked away in a little blanket fort she made for herself in the pen. Ladybug is a funny and resilient bunny and will certainly entertain her future person or family!

We adopt to indoor homes only! If you are interested in adopting a bunny from Orlando Rabbit Care and Adoptions, or would like more information on rabbit care, please visit our website at: http://www.orlandorabbit.org. The first step in our adoption process is to complete an adoption application, which can be found here: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/55856/generic . Then one of our volunteers will reach out to you via email to schedule a time to speak with you. If you don’t see the email in a day or two, please check your spam folder!

Our Adoption Fee/Donation for a single rabbit is $100, a pair is $170, and a triple is $200. This helps to offset the cost of having the rabbits altered, microchipped and vaccinated, as well as any medical care that may have been required.

Additional adoption info

For those that want to bond a new rabbit with an existing rabbit, we conduct bonding events where the home rabbit can meet several rabbits to find a potential match. We work with the adopting family to help ensure that the rabbits bond. We take back the adoptive rabbit if there is not a match.

Our adoption agreement specifies that we will take any adopted rabbit back, should the home situation change in the future.

Go meet their pets

We are a foster-based rescue where our available animals are kept in private homes.

You can see our rabbits online, then make an appointment to meet the rabbit(s) you select.

From time-to-time, we conduct adoption events where you can meet multiple rabbits. Because of RHDV2, these events have been paused.

More about this rescue

We are a rescue and educational group dedicated to the health, care and enjoyment of house rabbits. We believe that pet rabbits are family members and should be housed indoors, should be fed a healthy diet, should be spayed or neutered, and should receive quality medical care. Our organization strives to provide bunny parents with information to help them care for their rabbit.
