My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 Meet Spike – The Gentle Giant Who Loves a Good Story 📚
Don’t let his big size fool you — Spike is one of the softest souls you’ll ever meet.
This handsome Cane Corso may have a tough exterior, but he’s calm, thoughtful, and deeply connected to his people. One of Spike’s most unique traits? He absolutely loves being read to. Sit down with a book and a gentle voice, and you’ll soon find Spike stretched out beside you, listening intently like the world’s most loyal (and literary) friend.
Spike has shown no reactivity toward other dogs or cats while in our care, and with proper introductions, we believe he could live peacefully alongside other respectful pets. He walks beautifully on leash, enjoys quiet time, and thrives in calm, predictable environments where he can be close to his people.
He’s looking for a home that will appreciate his calm nature, offer him structure and kindness, and maybe even a bookshelf or two.
🐶 About Spike:
Not reactive to dogs and Unknown reactivity to cats, LOVES being read to. Calm, quiet, and people-focused. Enjoys walks, soft beds, and deep bonds
📖 Ready to write the next chapter of your life with a gentle giant by your side? Spike is waiting to listen.
SPIKE IS A FREEDOM FRIENDS ELIGIBLE PET!

More about this shelter

he Humane Society of Charles County (HSCC) is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that relies completely on private donations and its own fundraising abilities to operate. We do not receive any federal, state or government funding or any funds from any national animal welfare organizations to operate.

The fees collected from the adoption of each animal help to offset some of the costs involved in providing care for the animals and preparing an animal for placement into a new home.
