Caldwell is a handsome 4-year-old with a warm brown sugar coat and eyes that quietly hold a world of hope—and maybe just a little sadness. He’s been with us for over a year, patiently waiting for someone to see past his struggles and into the loving dog beneath.
Caldwell’s journey hasn’t been easy. He’s a strong puller on leash, and when he gets overwhelmed or excited, he sometimes redirects that energy onto the leash. Because of this, he needs an experienced owner who understands him, someone calm and confident who can provide the structure and patience he desperately needs. Caldwell’s best life would be in an adult-only home with no other pets—a place where he can finally feel safe and at peace.
But underneath it all is a little pup who just wants to be loved. He adores wearing PJs, loves having his picture taken, and when he trusts you, his affection is deep and true. Caldwell loves to run and play outdoors with any toy you bring him and is very respectful of his treats, savoring every one. And when the day winds down, he’s all about cuddles.
Inside, Caldwell is still waiting for the home that will love him and the family that will give him a chance to blossom.
He’s spent so long waiting—too long for a dog this special. Caldwell deserves more than just patience; he deserves a life filled with comfort, kindness, and belonging.
If you have the experience, heart, and home to give him that chance, Caldwell will be forever grateful—and endlessly loyal.
Caldwell's adoption fee is $0 thanks to a donation!
Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Each pet also receives a behavioral assessment to help us better understand the type of home they may thrive in. However, it’s important to remember that the results may not fully reflect an animal’s true personality, as shelter and foster environments can be stressful. If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: https://www.acskc.org/adopt-1
Once your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet! We welcome adopters from out of state to apply!
