Kokomo has been in the PAWS Atlanta program for over a year, and she deserves more than waiting. She lived in a foster home for nearly 6 months and, if they hadn’t already had 3 dogs and 2 cats, we know they would have kept her. They still check on her regularly and love her dearly.
While in foster care, Kokomo worked with our trainer and behavior consultant, MarLee, on a few of her “lesser traits” (at least by human standards). Those same traits were far more manageable in a home than in a shelter environment.
Here’s the honest part:
Kokomo can be reactive to dogs and people on the other end of a leash.
She prefers to eat on her own (honestly… most dogs do, whether they tell you or not).
Since returning to the shelter, she has slowly started to deteriorate, even with MarLee and our Animal Care Specialists giving her extra time, training, and attention. Kokomo really needs a foster or adopter.
And while she may seem daunting at first glance, she is truly loyal, goofy, and loving. She loves to cuddle, sleeps in the most ridiculous poses, lives for playtime, and no stick is safe in her presence. She’s also very smart and has done a lot of training… she’s basically the #1 Branch Manager at PAWS Atlanta.
MarLee and Kokomo are besties, and MarLee is available as a free resource during fostering and/or after adoption to help set everyone up for success.
