Checkers is a one-year-old beagle that weights 20 lbs. He is very sweet and playful, squeaky toys are his favorite toys, he gets along well with fosters siblings, and he can steal foster siblings’ toys to pile them up in his bed. Checkers is glued to one of his foster brothers, so he will need a canine companion. Checkers is still little skittish, but he is sweet caring boy once you get to know him.

Checkers is potty trained and will go in his crate with a treat but after he realizes that foster mom has left, he will start crying and he is loud, but he calms down once he notices that foster siblings stayed with him. Checkers is learning to walk on a leash, and he still gets a little nervous but foster siblings are teaching him that walking outdoors is fun. He needs to go with patient people that is willing to work with him.
Checkers will prefer to have a backyard to do his zoomies.

He sleeps on his bed in foster mom bedroom or where foster siblings sleep (he follows them all the time) and he sleeps thru the night without problem.

Checkers is heartworm positive and undergoing slow kill treatment.
