My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey y'all! My name is Cooper and I am such a handsome boy. I am 10 years old, a neutered male, and have long golden red hair from head to toes! I'm looking for an extremely kind and patient owner to adopt me.

My foster mom said I have to be honest with y'all, so here goes: I am beautiful and have a heart of gold! But, I can also be a grumpy old man after going through trauma and abandonment. I will probably take a while to trust you. I can growl when I don't like something, it's just my way of letting you know I might be scared. I prefer you pet me on one side of my head at a time, two hands can scare me! I also like to see your hands so you don't surprise me with sudden movements.

I am a good boy. I don't tear things up. I don't go potty inside. I listen really well and I like to sleep a lot. I don't like to be alone. If you crate me please keep me near you especially at night or I will get scared and cry a lot. I want to get along with other dogs but it can be really hard for me. I have 2 docile foster brothers who are kind and patient with me. I really wish I could get along with everyone but like I said, it's hard, so I would do best as an only pet. I love people, and I just want someone to understand my trauma and my fears. I get super excited when my foster family's son comes home from school. It took a while for me to trust him, too. I would love to find my furever home! Please only reach out if you are certain about me because I'm not great at trust and transitions. I need a forever home and your home would need to be my last home so I can be safe and at peace for my golden years.

*All of The Right to Live dogs are fostered locally in San Antonio Texas and will be transported to other states to their new families upon adoption. We believe fostering dogs and not having them decompress in a kennelled environment is more beneficial for the dogs and builds their trust and companionship in a family situation. Adoption fee includes transportation costs, previous/current medical treatment (spay/neuter, etc.) and a health certificate for cross-state travel*
