My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*** Turkey is in a foster home. ***

Turkey #19507: solid black, short hair, neutered male, born approx. 1/1/24

Cats: probably an only cat / very specific type
Dogs: good
Children: savvy tweens+

BACKGROUND: Turkey was found at a golf course on Thanksgiving Day (hence his name) very underweight and lethargic. His savior got him to her vet and nursed him back to health, but wasn’t able to keep him permanently. Turkey got adopted, but conflict with the resident cat meant it didn’t work out; this sweet guy has come back to look for a happy and loving home to call his own.

PERSONALITY: Turkey is a confident and curious cat who loves to get pets and scritches. He is friendly to all humans right away and will follow you around the house (even if you take a bubble bath—he’ll walk around the rim and may sample the bubbles). He loves belly rubs, head scratches, behind the ears, under the chin, pretty much all over, though he asks that you largely let him keep his paws under his own control and if he wants you to stop something then he’ll give you a little warning nip. He’ll jump on your legs when he wants snuggles and joins you on the bed. As a very active young fellow, Turkey is interactive yet not clingy… he has things to do and toys to play with and LOTS of energy to expend! (He’s a kitten in a full-grown body.) He’ll play fetch with you if you toss a spring, though, and you can help expend his energy. Turkey can sometimes get overstimulated when he’s in a playful mood and getting pets at the same time, so we suggest saving the pets for calmer moments. He can nibble and grab at your hand or arm when he’s feeling amped, but he’ll readily switch to a wrestling a kicker toy instead when you swap it out. This cool cat needs the stimulation of regular interactive play and plenty of toys and things for him to do.

COMPATIBILITY: Turkey is inconsistent with other cats; while he has gotten along great and enjoyed playing with some near his own age that have a similar energy and enthusiasm, with others he has shown aggression. Because it is difficult to know how a pairing will go, we think he probably needs to be an only cat. He has done well with a dog. Turkey does best with experienced cat people; he is good with cat-savvy tweens and up who will give him space when he wants it and be consistent with playing versus petting times. He needs a LOT of dedicated playtime and enrichment.

Turkey is a great cat, remin
