Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Newest Update: June 2025
Meet Dexter – Your Future Cuddle Buddy and Adventure Partner!
Location: Maine foster pup
Age: 3 years old
Currently fostered in a one-dog household
Looking for a loyal, loving, and slightly goofy best friend? Meet Dexter, a sweet-hearted 3-year-old dog with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Dexter is currently in foster care and ready to find his forever home!
About Dexter:
Dexter is a true people dog. He adores his humans and lives for cuddle sessions on the couch (or bed – fair warning, he will try to hog the space out of love).
He’s an excellent companion on walks and absolutely lives for car rides. The more adventures, the better!
Dexter listens well to commands, knows the basics, and is a quick learner. He’s very trusting and will transition easily with a little attention and affection.
He’s content napping while you’re at work and has full run of the house, happily relaxing in his bed until you’re home.
Dexter’s Ideal Home:
A home that can give him one good walk a day – he’s got energy and love to spare!
A family or individual who appreciates affectionate dogs and doesn’t mind the occasional excited bark when visitors arrive.
He does well with children and other dogs but thrives best with a bit of structure and attention, especially in busy households.
Fun Dexter Facts:
He’s a sniffer extraordinaire – walks are more like “sniffari” adventures!
He might try to jump up when he’s extra excited – but hey, who can blame him for loving people that much?
He’s the definition of a gentle goofball and makes his foster parents laugh every day.
If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will fill your life with joy, laughter, and lots of cuddles, Dexter might just be your perfect match.
This handsome boy is a beautiful mixed breed dog, definitely some hound in there! He is approximately 65 lbs.
Dexter LOVES car rides, and sits in the seat like a human. He likes to take walks and with the 1:1 attention of his foster parents, he is getting some excellent fine turning of leash manners.
Dexter is an escape artist with crates and has learned to do OK without one as long as the area is well puppy-proofed. Meeting new people or dogs is a little stressful for Dexter so he needs a good proper intro so he can warm up to new friends. He loves the family’s guinea pigs though! He has played the best with older dogs, and is skittish around puppies or “in your face” dogs. Dog parks will definitely not be safe for him and he hasn’t been able to stay at a day care due to his aversion to crates.
Dexter would be best in a home without very small children as he has become more territorial as an adult, and needs more training than his current family is able to provide.
If you are interested in meeting Dexter or any of our cuties, please fill out the adoption application. If interested in fostering Dexter or any of our dogs, please email us at luckypuprescue@yahoo.com
Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network, and it is our expectation that, once approved, a potential adopter and their family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.
