My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Filip, the world`s most charming grump! At 15 years young, this gentleman is a sophisticated senior with impeccable manners, enormous fluffy paws, and the most luxurious whiskers you`ve ever seen.
Filip`s interests include watching squirrels, birds, and mice on his very own smartphone (he`ll occasionally sneak in a history documentary or math lecture—he believes in lifelong learning). He`s a tech-savvy kitty who`ll gladly curl up next to you during your favorite show.
Filip adores human companionship, whether that`s cuddling in your lap, greeting your guests, or sharing a cozy nap under the covers. Despite his adorably grumpy expression, he`s an absolute sweetheart—calm, affectionate, and incredibly smart. He`s litter box trained and completely comfortable meeting new people.
If you`re seeking a relaxed, loving friend to keep you company during quiet days, Filip could be your perfect match. After all, retirement is much sweeter when shared with a furry friend who`s seen a thing or two and knows exactly how to enjoy life`s simple pleasures.

More about this shelter

The South Suburban Humane Society (SSHS) incorporated in 1970 as a small group of volunteers who brought homeless pets into their homes and worked to find them permanent homes. From those humble origins, we grew to a 501c3 nonprofit organization operating a 19,000 square foot animal resource campus in Matteson, IL that takes in more than 4,000 pets annually, a Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic, a Low-Cost Veterinary Services Clinic, and a variety of far-reaching community services. The SSHS annually impacts 20,000 pets and the people who love them through these programs.
