My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Spike is a pit mix who came to us as a stray, hoping his family would return for him. While he waited patiently, he showed us what a loving, loyal dog he can be — and now he’s ready to begin a new chapter with a family of his own!
Full of muscle and playful energy, Spike loves to zip around and burn off excitement. He may take a little time to warm up to new people, but once he trusts you, he’s incredibly sweet, affectionate, and always ready for tummy rubs.
Because of his strength and enthusiastic personality, Spike will thrive best in a calm, adult-only home where he can have consistent guidance and structure. He’s looking for someone who can match his energy, understand his needs, and help him continue to grow into the amazing companion he’s meant to be.
Spike’s adoption fee includes his vaccines, neuter, and microchip — he’s all set for his fresh start!
If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate buddy who’s full of love and ready to share it, come meet Spike today. He can’t wait to meet the right adult family who will make him feel truly at home.

More about this shelter

The mission of the Animal Rescue League of Marshalltown is to provide a safe haven for lost, homeless, and abused companion animals; to help reunite lost companion animals with their family; to find new homes for adoptable and abandoned animals; and to aid in strengthening the human to animal bond.

It is the dream of the Animal Rescue League of Marshalltown to have a community where no companion animal is left to starve and fend for itself; and where companion animals have a comfortable and loving place to life until a permanent home can be found.
