Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Dixie, a beautiful calico girl with a quiet soul and a gentle heart. Dixie may be a bit shy at first, often preferring to watch the world from a safe distance, but don’t let that fool you, there’s a sweet and curious cat just waiting to feel safe and loved. She has a soft spot for Temptation treats and will slowly come out of her shell when they’re involved. Wand toys are her favorite way to play, especially if you give her time and space to warm up. Dixie is looking for a calm, patient home with someone who understands that trust takes time, but the bond you’ll build with her will be something truly special. If you believe in quiet companionship, gentle affection, and the joy of earning a shy cat’s love, Dixie may be the perfect addition to your heart and home. More about this shelter
Abandoned Pet Rescue (APR) is one of the largest no-kill animal shelters in South Florida with the mission of rescuing and sheltering abandoned and abused cats and dogs with the goal of finding them new homes. APR's adoption center has about 150 cats and 30 dogs, all of which receive nutritious meals, veterinary care, enrichment and love.
APR, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteers who were trapping, spaying and neutering feral cats and quickly realized the greater need to help abandoned pets and advocate for a no-kill community. APR is funded solely by generous donors and grants.
