My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Melody, and her brother Rory!

Melody is an almost two year old female cat looking for that purrfect home to share with her brother Rory! Melody is a friendly and affectionate kitty who after taking time to acclimate to new spaces, shows off her sweet nature. She loves cuddling up with her favorite humans and feline brother at the end of a long day of play.

While she’s a total lovebug, Melody can be a bit shy at first. She feels much more confident with her brother Rory by her side, giving her the courage to go out on a paw and try new things. The two are a bonded pair and must go home together.

Melody has lived with other cats in the past but will need a slow introduction to any new feline friends to ensure they all get along. If you`re ready to show her the love and patience she deserves, Melody, and her brother Rory, will reward you with endless affection and companionship.

Could Melody and Rory be the cuddly companions you`ve been waiting for? Come meet them today at the Humane Society of Summit County!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
