My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maze is a German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois mix, who I believe is around 3 years old and weighs about 60 lbs. She is a very active, goofy, and sweet dog. She grew up with a 5 lb sassy Chihuahua, an older pit bull mix, and another Australian Border Collie rescue of her age. Maze gets along well with other dogs and loves socializing with them; her favorite places are dog beaches and dog parks. The pet sitter she stays with has other dogs and has communicated that Maze has been getting along seamlessly with them and the other animals she’s been sitting for. She's friendly with people, though tends to be a bit shy when new guests arrive; she just needs a little encouragement to say hello. Once she warms up to someone, she’s all about kisses and cuddles. Maze truly deserves a loving home, especially with someone who leads an active lifestyle, as she has plenty of energy and affection to share. Although she hasn’t had much interaction with young children outside of dog parks, she has been around older kids and has done well with them, as her neighbors were all over the age of 10 and would occasionally play with her. Additional adoption info

If we are adopting out a dog who has been trained the adopter must agree to one training session the day they adopt the dog (coming home). If we decide additional training sessions will be needed we will advise the adopter prior to adoption.

More about this rescue

We are a veteran-run dog rescue based in San Diego, California. Our goal is to change the rescue world. We adopt our dogs to any loving and qualified homes, but we also provide ESAs for military veterans. With The Heroic Tail’s model, we are not only able to rescue dogs from high-kill shelters who happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, but we are also able to help the dogs deemed “unadoptable” and give them a better chance at a happy and healthy life!
