My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to Chuco. Chuco is a sweet senior gentleman who finds himself in need of a new home, after his former owner was forced to give him up due to some bad circumstances. He was adopted but returned after several months for not getting along with the felines in the home. We would really love to get Chuco back into a loving home setting ASAP so he can live out his golden years in comfort. <3 Chuco is approximately eight-and-a-half-years-old and some sort of Spaniel/long-haired Dachshund mix (best guess). Chuco is a mellow and polite fella and appreciates a calmer environment. He can be timid at first and does not like loud noises. He would do best in a home with older children. Chuco is social with other dogs and even gets his play on here and there! Chuco's former owner says he is crate and potty trained, although we always advise that there will be an adjustment period for house-training when dogs go into a new environment. Chuco rides well in the car and is leash trained; he enjoys going on car rides for patio dinner dates, and taking a stroll around the neighborhood. Chuco also enjoys sleeping with his humans and would be very happy for a home that is looking for a chill cuddle buddy. Does Chuco sound like the one for you? Come visit him and fall in love! Email chitownrescue@gmail.com for more information/meet and greet. Chuco is previously neutered. His adoption fee includes vaccinations up to date including rabies, and microchip.

More about this rescue

"Chi Town" is short for "Chihuahua Town," which is our nick-name because we found that the majority of animals we were rescuing happened to be Chihuahuas and literally have a little “town” comprised of Chihuahuas! Chihuahuas are one of the most over-bred dogs in Arizona and unfortunately many end up in need of rescue. However, we are not limited to saving just Chihuahas, we do save other breeds dependent on availability of space. Chi Town also specializes in rescuing dogs who require a little extra TLC and are at risk of euthanasia at county shelters. These dogs may not be doing well for a variety of reasons- fear, fear aggression, anxiety, or a medical issue to name a few. These are the dogs that typically have no other outlet and for which time is of the essence . After our dogs are medically cleared and/or their behavioral issues have improved, they are available for adoption.

Please be aware that we do our very best to answer all questions in a timely manner.

We are always seeking to help promote these special Chihuahuas who are too often overlooked in AZ shelters due to the sheer volume of this breed. Please share and like us on Facebook:
