UPDATE: Suzy had a few days at a slumber party, and while she was too strong and bouncy for their 5 year old child, she did not bark in the house, only had one pee accident, and got along fine with their families’ visiting dogs. They report: She is a great dog, she is very loving and loves affection and playing. She is great with people and other animals. She was a fast learner throughout the training. She needs a bigger space to thrive. She needs to be walked at least a half mile to a mile to go potty on a walk. She likes a lot of attention and doesn’t like to be left alone much. If Suzy sounds like a good match for you, send in your application! She surely would love to be out of the kennel and into a home permanently!

Suzy arrived at NCCR on 2/1/25, transferred from an overcrowded shelter that ran out of room for her. She is an approximately 2-year-old spayed female Hound (mix?). Suzy weighs around 45 lbs. She gets along well with other dogs and is very friendly with people.

If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application found at caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.

We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.
