Chicken Nugget is a resilient and social young dog. He came to us after being abandoned and thrown over the fence. He sustained a serious injury to one of his hind legs due to the impact of the fall, which resulted in him losing his leg. He has adapted incredibly well to life on 3 legs. He walks, runs, and plays comfortably.
Here is what my friends at Hawaii Island Humane Society have to say about me:
- I am confident and friendly when meeting new people!
- I love playing with toys (especially my Kong), and take treats gently.
- I am a curious, athletic and adventurous good boy!
- I am very comfortable and relaxed when riding in the car.
- I would make a great hiking and adventure buddy.
OTHER ANIMALS:
Chicken Nugget can be reactive when meeting new dogs. His reactivity is easily managed and redirected using positive reinforcement training and counterconditioning. While he may be able to be integrated into a home with another dog, it will require compatibility between the dogs, slow introductions, and mindful management. He has not shown prey drive toward cats but as a Fear-Free Shelter, we are unable to reliably and humanely test dogs with cats in the shelter environment.
Due to his energy and playful mouthiness, Chicken Nugget is best suited for an adult-only home. He would thrive with active adults who enjoy and celebrate his fun and curious temperament.
Chicken Nugget's adoption fee has been generously SPONSORED (now $0!) by one of his friends!
