My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Atreyu, and I am from Arkansas.

Atreyu is such a sweetie with the most adorable little underbite. He is crate-trained and potty-trained. He gets along wonderfully with our 3-year-old female (Pittie/Lab mix) dog and despite her being more than twice his size and weight, he loves to roughhouse with her and cuddle with her for naps throughout the day. He's doing great with walking on a leash and learned sit very quickly. He also loves to play with toys and entertains himself very well.
Because I work from home during the day, he's only crated at night and when we are not home. He likes to monitor the happenings on the street and when out on walks and does bark at passersby; we are working on this with puzzle toys to distract and practicing the "quiet" command with treats to build his confidence. He is a fantastic cuddler and is extremely lovable.

From the Vet:
While in rescue with TBB Atreyu has shown us how special of a dog he is and we just know there is a special home out there for him! A few things to know about him; He has been diagnosed with IBD and a very mild case of luxating patellas. His patellas are well managed with a joint supplement at this time. His IBD treatment has gone through some recent changes, we are starting on a true diet trial of Hill's GI biome along with additional fiber supplements and steroid medications. It is our hope that his IBD flare ups can be less if well managed on a strict diet + the steroid when needed. A consistent routine/structure will be the best way to set him up for sucess!

Go meet their pets

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

If you would like to meet an animal at our office who needs a foster, please reach out to inofficeanimals@thebondbetween.org and fill out our foster interest form at https://www.thebondbetween.org/foster

For more information on fostering or adoptable animals, please visit https://www.thebondbetween.org.

More about this rescue

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.

We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.

You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
