My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cody is a class clown! An energetic and goofy guy that just wants to have fun. He is a smart guy deep down and a good listener if you have tasty snacks! All he wants is to love and to play, but sometimes he can be a little too rough. Because of this, he should be in a home without little kids, smaller dogs, or cats. While he is a lover, he doesn't realize his own size and strength and may accidentally be too rough with smaller friends. He does love to romp around with dogs his own size and would likely do best in a home with another dog he can rough house with. When he isn’t playing with his toys or his buddies, he’s a lap dog that wants to be glued to you! He needs a home that will offer him some structure and boundaries so he can grow out of some of his teenage boy behavior!

Grooming and vet care isn’t his favorite thing, but with some medication and a nice snack to distract him, he is much more tolerant!

He also has genu valgum, which is the medical term for saying he is knocked-kneed. We can’t say for sure how Cody got it, but this condition is often genetic. While this can cause discomfort in some dogs with the condition, it doesn’t seem to slow him down at all. The vet seems to think he has a relatively mild case and recommends he be on a joint supplement the rest of his life to try to prevent any discomfort down the road.

Because he loves his snacks, he's had a few too many in his past and could stand to lose around 10 lbs. While this is important to his health overall, it would also prevent extra strain on his joints that could exacerbate any potential issues with his knees over time.

He is potty trained and crate trained and knows basic commands like sit, down, heel, and place, but his favorite thing to do is shake or give high fives!

Cody is being fostered in OH (Columbus area)
