Dexter is a whirlwind of energy, always ready for action and adventure. Mischievous like a toddler, he turns every moment into playtime, whether he’s tossing his fluffy bat, pouncing on a stuffed dragon, or chasing the elusive laser light. His fearless nature means he faces life head-on, never hesitating to launch a sneak attack—or pull off a clever little heist.

Despite his playful antics, Dexter has a soft side. After a long session of self-entertainment, he loves nothing more than to curl up in a warm sweater, nestled against a familiar chest for a quick nap. With an affectionate demeanor and an independent streak, Dexter is truly his own man—a cat full of personality, charm, and endless energy.

We have worked hard to make our adoption process as easy as possible. We like to think of the process in four steps: application, phone conversation, meet and greet and adoption day. We will get back to applicants within a few days even if they were not chosen.

More about this rescue

Paws and Claws Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the Chicagoland area dedicated to preventing, and alleviating the suffering caused by abuse, neglect, and overpopulation. We help dogs and cats mentally and physically heal, and give them a chance to find love, a full life, and a forever home.

Our focus is on rescuing orphaned neonatal kittens, nursing kittens with their feral mothers, under-socialized cats, and dogs who have been at Chicago Animal Care and Control for too long. We see ourselves as the crossing guards for these vulnerable animals, helping them get from their past, whether that be from a traumatic home, a kennel, or a euthanasia list, to a safe and kind human who will love them.
