Meet Squish! This sweet, resilient girl came to the shelter in rough shape – missing hair, covered in scabs, and clearly a former outside dog who was discarded after being used for breeding. She arrived with a puppy and a male dog, but despite the tough life she`s endured, Squish is all love and positivity. She’s incredibly friendly with both people and other dogs, and her gentle, relaxed nature shines through in everything she does.
Squish is an expert at loose-leash walking, gliding through walks with ease and grace. She knows how to sit and is always ready for affection, eagerly seeking out pets and treats from everyone she meets. Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
