My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Blue is a GSD/husky that came to us as a puppy for service training. Due to how thin his adult build is the person decided not to have him for a balance support dog. A Marine then adopted him as a service dog. Unfortunately he was restricted to barrack on base and had to send him back to hsoy/us.
Blue is a very laid back easy going dog, likes hikes, playing with dogs his own size. He is not a fan of little dogs in his household but will ignore them on leash. He has passed his canine good citizen and urban canine public access courses in 2023 but is too old to be put into a service dog program. He is thin but eats well and is a happy dog. He loves kennel time and cuddle time equally but walking is his favorite thing to do.

More about this shelter

Our mission is to reduce the number of homeless pets through rescue, adoption and spay and neuter programs.

The new HSOY shelter is a state-of-the-art, beautiful facility that provides a safe, healthy, and humane environment for the thousands of animals that enter our care each year. It is a centrally located facility that offers a welcoming atmosphere, and hosts an onsite spay/neuter vaccination clinic aimed at reducing Yuma's homeless pet overpopulation and providing lifesaving vaccinations.

Since 1963, the Humane Society of Yuma has been devoted to the rescue, care, placement, and population control of Yuma's orphaned and homeless pets with animal welfare as the sole priority. The Humane Society of Yuma is a non-profit organization, governed by a Board of Directors and is independently funded by donations, grants, and municipal contracts; this funding is utilized to support the adoptions, clinic services, rescue partners, foster program, and community education of animal welfare and protection.
