NOVA, A STAR WAITING TO SHINE
Nova is a gentle and sensitive cat going through a rough patch. A major change in her environment left her unsettled, and she struggled to adjust. Coming to the shelter has only added to her stress, making her very timid for now. However, her previous family described her as incredibly affectionate and kind with both humans and animals.

Though she keeps her distance at the moment, Nova has immense potential for the right person—someone patient and reassuring. She is very vocal and loves to respond when spoken to, showing she still wants to connect. With her stunning coat and striking pale blue eyes, she is truly captivating. She’s never without her beloved banana plush, a small comfort in this unfamiliar place.

Nova needs a safe, loving home where she can rebuild her confidence at her own pace. Will you be the one to help her shine again?

More about this shelter

Founded in Montreal in 1869, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (now known simply as the Montreal SPCA) was the first animal-welfare organization in Canada. It is not known under whose influence the society was formed, but its history acknowledges assistance from animal-welfare societies in France, England and the United States. In its early years, the SPCA concentrated primarily on improving the treatment of work horses, which were used all across the island of Montreal. The SPCA later began working on additional issues, such as humane dog control, cock-fighting and the killing of wild birds. The SPCA has come a long way since its beginnings: today, it is the largest animal-protection organization in Quebec, speaking on behalf of animals wherever there is ignorance, cruelty, exploitation or neglect.
