Urgent Call for Help: Purebred English Pointers in Need of Love and Care
We are reaching out with an urgent plea for help concerning a group of purebred English Pointers who were discarded from a hunting club. These dogs are in dire need of loving homes, either through fostering or adoption.
The Situation
These beautiful dogs arrived at the rescue underweight, many of them weighing less than 40 pounds. Ideally, a healthy English Pointer should weigh between 50 to 70 pounds, depending on their bone structure. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon for some hunting clubs to keep dogs underfed as a misguided means of training. These dogs deserve better, and we are committed to providing them with proper nutrition and care.
Current Condition
Weight: Each dog is currently underweight but is being fed properly to regain health.
Age: All of them are under 2 years old.
Health: They are heartworm negative and have been fully vetted.
Temperament: They are friendly and sweet but understandably a bit shy. Despite their experiences, they walk well on a leash and have received some training.
Crate Trained: They have been accustomed to crates, likely due to their previous environment.
Immediate Needs
These lovely dogs have nowhere to go, and the situation is urgent. We need committed fosters and adopters to provide them with the love and care they deserve. Your support is crucial to ensure these dogs have a chance at a better life.
How You Can Help
Foster: Provide a temporary home and care for these dogs until they find their forever homes.
Adopt: Give these sweet Pointers a permanent home where they can thrive.
Spread the Word: Share this message with friends, family, and community members who might be interested in helping.
A Special Case: Blakely
Among the group, Blakely was the only one left behind during the last transport to a better life. We are especially hopeful to find her a foster or adoptive home on the next transport.
This situation is a shame on many levels, but with your help, we can turn their lives around. If you are interested in fostering or adopting or know someone who might be, please reach out immediately.
Thank you for your compassion and support. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these deserving dogs.
