My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DOB: January 15th, 2015

My name is Bear and I love people, sleeping and playing with shadows. I may look like a grumpy old man in most of my photos, but I promise I'm a sweetheart! My favourite way to start the day is with plenty of pets from you, which I will return with kisses and head bonks. Pressing my forehead into you is very calming for me, and I do it when I'm happy or overwhelmed. I can also be quite chatty, making little chirps as you pet me.

I enjoy being brushed (and need it regularly to prevent my fur from getting matted). I really enjoy kicker toys (especially with catnip!) and small mice toys, which I prefer to play with solo. But the toys that really get me excited are shadows! If I notice a shadow moving on the floor I will keep pouncing on it until I've caught it or I get tired. Apart from pouncing on shadows another funny thing about me is that I drool when I'm happy and will nuzzle you sometimes. I also sometimes hangout or sleep with my tongue out.

I can get overwhelmed easily when I first encounter things, but am generally pretty confident. I really enjoy being with people - my idea of a perfect afternoon is just you, me, and the couch. If there's no one next to me on the couch, I like lying in caves made from a blanket draped over the corner of the couch.

I can eventually get used to other cats if they have to be around, but I love being the only one to soak up all your love and attention. I'm pretty affectionate with my people and I trust them a lot once I get to know them

I've started getting monthly Solensia injections to help improve my mobility when walking and general discomfort. I do well with small stairs or ramps to help me get up to and down from my favourite places in the house (i.e., the couch). I tend to prefer hanging out in softer places, like a couch or plushy cat bed. I am also more comfortable eating when my food bowl is raised a bit. I'm still okay to use my regular litter box, but as I get older you may want to think about getting me one with low sides so it's easier for me to get in and out of.

Thank you for welcoming a senior cat into your family - an adoption fee of your choice is
appreciated, vs. our standard adult cat adoption fee of $225.
