My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal Profile: Meet Apollo! This adventurous 7-year-old pup was adopted from DGS in Spring 2018, and although his life has had some changes since, he remains full of love and energy.

Apollo is very loved, but divorce disrupted the balance of his pack and Apollo has been exhibiting resource guarding around food towards the other dog in the home. This behavior is manageable, but his owner often has his elderly family member with alzheimer's in the home. There have been a few squabbles around food between the dogs, but nothing that required medical attention.  Apollo's owner is truly heartbroken with this decision, but we agree that it is everyone's best interest to find him a new home.

Apollo thrives on outdoor activities like hiking, running, mountain biking, and playing tug-of-war—he’s always ready for action! But don’t worry, after a good walk or play session, he’s also content to relax at home. Apollo is a social butterfly with people and other dogs, but with the resource guarding he'd be best in a home comfortable with balanced training to address the issue with other dogs or as an only dog. He is house and crate trained, and would do just fine in an apartment as long as he got his daily walk in. This sweet guy has a lot of life left to live and endless love to give! Apollo is in excellent health, neutered and UTD on all vaccinations.  He had an anal gland removed 3 years ago and was treated for cancer, and has since been clear of any concerns.

Apollo remains in the care of his owner as we search for a new place to call home. We have his complete medical history, and are happy to answer any questions you might have about his personality or behavior. Please email ashlyn@doggoneseattle.org for more info!

Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $400, which includes spay/neuter, current rabies/DAPPV/bordetella vaccinations, microchip, health certificate, and heartworm test. All adoption fees are donations to a Washington non-profit corporation and all donations go to benefit the animals in our rescue.
