My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jay Jay and Gee Gee, the cutest bonded pair you've ever seen! This adorable and loving duo were picked up as strays and spent time at an overcrowded Atlanta shelter before coming to BarkVille Dog Rescue. We are committed to keeping these two best friends together in their forever home. Jay Jay is a Gray Pitbull/Mix who is a mature gentleman, weighing 80lbs. His age is estimated to be around 11yr, however he acts much younger and has lots of life left to live! Jay Jay has a sweet and gentle demeanor, and loves to be near his people. He enjoys going on car rides, sunbathing in his fenced yard, and cuddling by your side. Jay Jay does have some arthritis, however it is easily kept under control with daily medicine. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. Gee Gee (also known as Georgie) is a petite and loving Chihuahua/Mix. He's estimated to be around 4yr old, and weighs just 10lbs. Gee Gee loves to play with his best friend Jay Jay, chase squirrels in his fenced yard, or he's happy to be curdled up in your lap! He is working on his potty training, and has a medium energy level. Gee Gee also enjoys the company of the other dogs in his foster home, and is a just a friendly little love bug! This dynamic and sweet duo deserve a forever family that will provide them with lots of love and security for the rest of their days! They enjoy being near their people and are extremely loving, so a family that is home often and is looking for loyal companions would be an ideal fit. They are both easy going, but do require a fenced yard in their forever home for sunbathing and squirrel patrol! Jay Jay and Gee Gee are both neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. If you're interested in adopting this pair, please email us at info@barkvilledogrescue.org or submit an application at https://www.barkvilledogrescue.org/applications. BarkVille is located in Roswell, GA and our dogs are available for foster/adoption in the Greater Atlanta area. Applicants in surrounding states could potentially adopt a BarkVille dog if their application is approved, they live within 2-3 hours of the Greater Atlanta area, and they are able to pick up their dog from the foster home.September 14, 2025, 8:33 pm

Additional adoption info

The dogs that we have available for adoption have come from shelters where they were found stray or were given up by their owners. These dogs have been let down by humans in the past and may be suffering from physical ailments or abuse. So, by the time these dogs come into our rescue group they have been thru a lot and need a home that can provide them with structure, guidance, love, patience and time to adjust to their new surroundings. Please understand that as dogs transition from shelter to foster home to forever home there can be set backs along the way and they will need your help to adjust.

All dogs that are adopted from BarkVille are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and provided with all necessary veterinary care. However, owning a pet can be expensive and you must be prepared to provide quality food, monthly heartworm medication, monthly flea and tick medication, yearly shots and routine checkups. In addition, you must prepare for accidents and illnesses that may require expensive treatment or surgeries. Many times our dogs have ended up in shelters because their previous owners were not prepared for these expenses and we want to ensure this never happens to them again.

We strive to know and understand each of our dogs so that we can work to find the best match for each dog and adopter.

Our adoption process includes an adoption application, adoption interview, meet and greet, veterinary reference check, personal reference check and home visit prior to making the adoption final. We reserve the right to deny any application that we feel is not a good fit for any of our dogs for any reason. If you are ready to make a commitment to one of our dogs please complete the adoption application and submit for review. The adoption fees vary based on the age of the animal: Age 7 and up is $300, Between age 7 to 1 year is $350. Puppies under the age of 1 year is $400.

More about this rescue

BarkVille Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer non-profit. We envision a world where all dogs reside in responsible, loving homes.

Dogs in our care are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment. The dogs are then placed in foster homes while they await placement into their permanent home.

Our goal is to help dogs without regard to age, breed, size, or ease of placement. To the extent our finances allow, dogs in the greatest need take priority.
