****AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER/FOSTER TO ADOPT AFTER 3/4** TESTED POSITIVE FOR HEARTWORMS AND HAS BEGUN THE TREATMENT PROTOCOL****
**QUIET LOW ACTIVITY WHILE SHE UNDERGOES TREATMENT!!!!!!!*
Meet Astrid, a 3 ½-year-old Plott Hound mix that came in a very scared stray! No one ever came for her and now she is ready to find a loving FOREVER home!
When Astrid first arrived, she was understandably shut down and frightened. But with the right care, time, and, of course, treats, she’s slowly but surely opened up and discovered the joy of human companionship. Now, she’s a goofy and loving pup who’s ready to enjoy all the fun and comfort that come with being part of a family. Once comfortable, Astrid loves to show off her silly side, chasing after toys, rolling in the grass, or just enjoying some good old-fashioned playtime with her favorite humans.
Astrid has done well with the dogs she’s met, and she would likely thrive in a home with another dog who can help show her the ropes and give her the confidence she needs. As with all adoptions Meet and Greets are required with any dogs Astrid will be living with! She will need time to adjust to new environments and people. Once she’s built that trust, Astrid’s true, loving self shines through, and she’ll be your loyal companion for life.
Astrid was a stray so patience as she settles into a new home and routines is a must. She will need guidance and positive reinforcement as she learns all the household routines!!!!
Astrid has been spayed and microchipped. We have updated all vaccines including rabies. She has been given a dewormer and started on flea/tick prevention. Heartworm tested (POSITIVE)

The Orange County Animal Shelter is responsible for providing humane care to unwanted, lost or abandoned animals
The Orange County Animal Shelter provides safe haven and vet care for hundreds of animals of all ages and descriptions each year.
Happily, we have had great success promoting our animals on Petsmart adoption events and with the help of Adopt A Pet. Dozens of animals have been adopted by people who have come from many other states. Would you like to join them? If so, please let us know! The greater our reach the more homes we will find for the animals in our care.
Although we are about 1.5 hours away from the Washington, D.C. metro area, it is an easy drive. You can even make a day of it and stop off at country stores, Civil War battlefield sites and a huge mall complex in Spotsylvania/Fredericksburg. And after all, what is a few hours in drive time when you will be meeting your new best friend? If you need help getting here, call us for directions
