My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Roscoe 🐾

Roscoe is a strong, intelligent boy looking for an experienced, committed adopter who understands high-drive dogs. Because of his strength and excitability, he would do best in a home with older children or adults only.

Roscoe prefers to get to know people at his own pace and tends to be more comfortable with women. Once he trusts you, he’s an affectionate and loyal companion. He is housebroken and crate trained, giving him a solid foundation for home life.

Roscoe thrives on activity, structured playtime, and mental challenges. He enjoys walks but can be leash excited, so he will need continued training and confident handling.

A secure yard with visual-barrier fencing is important for Roscoe to feel comfortable and successful. He is looking for a cat-free home.

With a single coat and basic monthly grooming needs, Roscoe is fairly low-maintenance in care. He has tested negative for heartworm and is ready to continue his journey with the right person.

Roscoe’s ideal match is a patient, experienced handler who will respect his boundaries, provide structure, and give him the physical and mental outlets he needs. In return, he’ll offer deep loyalty and affection to someone willing to earn his trust. 💙

More about this rescue

The Humane Society of Harris County was founded in 1991 and has continually serviced Harris County and the surrounding area for 34 years. HSHC currently provides shelter and adoption opportunities for homeless dogs and cats though a small network of foster homes and a small kennel on loan to us by a Harris County resident. Just over 2000 animals have found new, permanent homes since 2008. In addition, we provide numerous outreach programs including:
• HSHC Pet Food Pantry, which is run in coordination with the Harris County Meals-on-Wheels program. The program has distributed over 90,000 pounds of food since its inception.
• “Tag You’re It”, a pet identification initiative that encourages residents to properly identify their pets by offering low cost microchips and tags. Over 1000 resident dogs and cats have been identified through this program.
