My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Audi! She is a 2 year old female tabby of your dreams. This darling girl is the perfect companion for anyone looking for a new best friend. Audi is warm and social. She is sure to make the perfect roommate to a lucky new owner. She will lounge around the apartment and find a cozy spot to curl up and enjoy some warm sun. She loves to sleep at the foot of her foster mom’s bed and enjoy leisurely weekend mornings there. Audi was found as a stray so was not raised by people... she is still learning how to give cuddles and accept lots of petting, but she shows her love and affection by rubbing up on her foster mom’s legs or by sleeping next to her. She is very social without coming on too strong. Audi is a young cat who loves to play with feather toys or her favorite feather bird. In true cat nature, Audi needs time and patience to warm up to new people and new places, but fear not. Once she starts to settle in you will have a chatty Cathy on your hands who will be the first to remind you when it’s dinner time. Audi will thrive in a quiet, slow paced home with someone who can offer her the space and time she needs to get comfy. After that she will be your BFF for life. Audi is a very low maintenance girl, just looking for that special someone. Audi has so much to offer, don’t miss the chance to make this sweet and gentle girl a part of your family!

Her foster mom writes:

“The sweetest bundle of joy is Miss Audi. She is the greatest companion and chattiest little girl. Audi loves practicing her somersaults any chance she gets, and enjoys gazing out the window trying to catch the bugs and bees. She has come out of her shell so much since I have been fostering her. She recently has allowed me to scratch her head and behind her ears. Compared to the first several weeks of hiding under my futon, she has made great strides. She loves to be included and will rub up against my legs any chance she gets. She has also mastered her air biscuit making skills. She loves to be talked to and will talk back most of the time. I have been blessed to see her grow and to have had such a companion.”

This cat would prefer to be adopted alone and be the only cat in the home.

This is a courtesy listing, meaning the cat(s) are being offered for adoption by a rescuer, rescue group, or individual unaffiliated with the Brooklyn Cat Cafe or Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition. As BBAWC has not evaluated the animal(s) we therefore cannot provide information on health or temperament. After we receive an application, we will connect you with the current caretaker of this cat.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
