Axel is a unique young dog. He has a lot of love to give his forever family.
Axel loves his time leash walking around with his foster family. He has investigated out every grasshopper and butterfly that comes by, as he finds their movements curious.
Axel watches the deer, rabbits, and armadillos on our property, and has never had an interest in chasing them. He enjoys laying in the grass during walks and sitting on the porch steps with his foster family.
✅Enjoys playing fetch
⚠️Enjoys popping tennis balls 🎾 if left to his own devices. Kong toys are a great chew choice.
✅ Enjoys walking on leash. My foster family is very impressed with the ease at which I walk on a leash. When they want my full attention, a gentle finger snap and hand motion inspires me to re-focus for a chin scratch.
😳 Enjoys giving big hugs (Foster Family is still working on this)
✅ Focuses on his interest (bugs and butterflies 🦋)
🤫 Startles easy when he is concentrating (Foster Family appreciates that he enjoys wildlife and his inquisitive nature.)
I’m working on crate training and know the cue to go outside. I still have lots of fun puppy energy and they keep telling me how great and smart I am.

The shelter is located at 589 Coolwater Drive in Bastrop Texas. Please come meet our pets Wednesday through Sunday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm

The Bastrop Animal Control organization became a reality in 1998. We've grown since then and continue to do so as Bastrop County grows. Currently, we have 3 separate buildings containing a total of 90 large indoor/outdoor kennels and 8 play yards. We have 30 indoor cat kennels. We also have a 3 room cattery, that enables cats to live together in colony type environments until they find their forever home. If you have ever worked with or adopted a shelter pet, you know just how much they crave the attention and love we and our volunteers can provide and their eternal gratitude when they find their forever home at last.
